Find the Number Of SIMs Registered Against Your CNIC

Cell phones began to become commonplace for Pakistanis in the year 2000. The drop in prices and ease of access for the general public resulted in a significant increase in the number of cellular subscribers in the years that followed.

This resulted in the erroneous application of purposeful technology. Many illegal activities and terrorist attacks were quickly linked to unregistered SIM cards.

In order to address these issues, PTA implemented an advanced SIM Information System in 2009. The system was designed to keep a digital record of SIM subscribers so that users can see how many active SIMs have been issued against their CNIC.

How many SIM cards can be registered to a single CNIC?

It is critical to understand that there is a limit to the number of SIMs that can be obtained against a CNIC. According to PTA regulations, an individual can have a maximum of 5 SIM cards issued in their name at any given time.

If you already have 5 SIM cards registered with your CNIC and want to get another one, you must first block the SIM card that is no longer in use in order to keep the maximum of 5 SIMs consistent. As of now, PTA has launched A new verification system launched for the Mobile sim in Pakistan so this way mobile sims can be verified easily.

How do you find out how many active SIM cards have been issued to you based on your CNIC?

If you are unaware of the active SIM cards issued against your CNIC, it is critical that you find out as soon as possible.

There are two simple ways to accomplish this:

Through Website:

  • Go to the PTA SIM Information Website to see how many SIM cards have been issued and are active in your name.
  • The link will take you to a page where you will be asked to enter your information.
  • Fill in the blanks with your CNIC number.
  • Check the box to confirm that you are not a robot and then click ‘Submit.’
  • In a tabular format, you will be shown a list of the registered SIMs against that specific CNIC.
  • The number of SIMs will be classified according to the operator, and the table will also show the total number of SIMs registered against your CNIC.

Through SMS:

Here’s a quick guide to determining the number of SIMs registered against your CNIC via SMS:

  • Launch the text message app on your phone.
  • Enter your CNIC number without hyphens.
  • After that, send this message to 668.
  • You will soon receive a text message indicating the total number of active SIM cards associated with each operator listed on your CNIC.
  • Please keep in mind that each SMS sent to 668 will cost you PKR 2 + tax.

If you discover that the number of SIMs issued against your CNIC exceeds the number of SIM cards you are currently using, you must contact the respective Company Operator’s Customer Service Centre.

What exactly is SIM Cloning, and why should you be concerned about it?

SIM cloning refers to the process of duplicating a SIM card by transferring the cloned SIM’s identifying information to another SIM card. Once completed, the separate SIM card can be used by another person on a different cellular phone while still retaining all of the data and charges associated with the original SIM card.

SIM cloning is a common method used by many criminals to engage in illegal activities and make calls associated with them using the identity of someone else. If you receive a call from your number that you did not make, contact the relevant cellular company immediately and file a complaint to have the illegally functional SIM card blocked.

PTA Biometric Verification System:

The PTA Biometric Verification System, or BVS for short, is a significant step taken by PTA to monitor the safety of cellular subscribers and put a stop to the illegal use of mobile phone connections. This system allows you to easily:

  • Obtain a duplicate SIM card.
  • Activate or purchase a new SIM card.
  • Change the owner of a SIM card that had previously been registered under someone else’s CNIC.
  • Verify your SIM card again.
  • Resolve issues with mobile number portability.

How to get your SIM card’s biometric verification?

To avoid having your registered SIM card blocked, you must first confirm that you are using a SIM that PTA recognizes. To obtain a biometric verified SIM, you must first determine whether or not the SIM card is registered in your name.

How to check the name of the SIM owner?

To find out who owns the SIM card, simply follow these simple steps:

  • Open your phone’s text message application.
  • Send an empty message to 667.
  • You will soon receive a text message with the name of the SIM owner from whom the message was sent.

How to block a SIM card registered against your CNIC?

If you want to get rid of a mobile SIM card that you no longer use, you should have it blocked so that you are no longer responsible for that number against your CNIC. Here’s what you should do to get started:

Visit the relevant cellular company’s nearest franchise or customer support office.
You will be asked to show your original CNIC and fill out a form, which will immediately block your required number.
Please keep in mind that using illegal or unregistered SIM cards is a crime with serious consequences. If you are currently using an unregistered SIM card or a SIM card in the name of someone else, you must address the issue immediately to avoid being caught in criminal activity. There are several methods to block your lost or stolen sims with PTA’s new online system which is quite reliable and convenient.
