Methods to block your lost or stolen mobile phones with PTA’s new online system

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new automated method for blocking lost, stolen, and snatched mobile phones. The newly released program is called the ‘Lost & Stolen Device System’ (LSDS). The new method would make it more convenient and less time-consuming for users to block a mobile phone that has been stolen, snatched, or misplaced.

The PTA representative said that complainants can easily make a request with the PTA to have the IMEI of such a handset blocked in order to prevent it from being misused. Therefore, the stolen cell phone will be banned within 24 hours after being reported under the new procedure, following required verification.

After filing a complaint, the complainant will be assigned a reference number following successful registration of the blocking request.

When the stolen IMEI search is blocked, the following status will be shown.

If a phone is recovered, the complainant must undertake the same procedure for unblocking through CMS and provide their complaint reference number as well as any other required information that was provided to them prior to the blocking of the mobile phone.

It should be noted that the PTA’s rule only covers phone blocking. Local police may be contacted in order to trace/track a stolen phone. There are also some ways to track lost Android Phone Using IMEI Number which you can do yourself. Moreover, false reporting is a criminal offense that will be handled according to the law.
