Steps To Legally Use Non-PTA Approved Phones In Pakistan
The only reason the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority keeps raising phone taxes in Pakistan it seems like Pakistanis are the richest people to have ever lived on the planet. Additionally, with the rising cost of smartphones brought on by both inflation and import levies. Nearly equal to the cost of the item itself is the current PTA tax.
As you know PTA has announced Import Tax on iPhone Handsets in 2022 that you can see and imagine how much tax you need to pay on your iPhone model.
We have a few techniques you can use to use your non-PTA-approved phone like a standard phone. The best approach is to actually pay the tax and use your phones if you can, but if not, you can utilise the following method instead. Please note that we will not discuss any unlawful methods with you.
For Android Users
S-Com Sim
S-Com is a telecom provider in northern Pakistan that offers nationwide 4G networking. The S-Com sim does function in all non-PTA certified phones across Pakistan for reasons that we are unable to comprehend. The PTA may have been too preoccupied with tax collection to remember S-Com, or perhaps something else, but the S-Com sim will function flawlessly in any Pakistani phone that is not PTA-approved.
The issue with that is that you would have to change your phone number, which would be challenging if you had been using the same number for a while. The next issue is that the sim is only available in northern Pakistan; therefore, you would need to purchase it online from sites like OLX, etc., for an additional few thousand rupees.
Jazz Digit Phone
You should purchase a Jazz Digit 4G phone if you don’t want to change your phone number or can’t find an S-Com sim card. These phones are incredibly feature-rich and only cost 4-5k rupees. These phones have a quick hotspot and a long battery life, allowing you to utilise all internet apps on your primary phone (those are not PTA-approved), such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and others, while using Digit 4G for calls and texting.
For iPhone Users.
IKOS Device
Since most phones now have dual sims, these devices are not as popular as they once were. Fortunately for Pakistanis, these devices are still available in online stores. It is much less expensive to purchase one of these PTA-approved gadgets than an iPhone. IKOS devices have a PTA tax of roughly 17–18K rupees, which is significantly less than the price of the most recent iPhone. So you could authorise an IKOS device, insert your SIM card, link it to your iPhone, and non-PTA phones would function just fine with it.
Cheap Secondary iPhone
There are various ways to unblock PTA blocked phones that you can consider. All Apple devices have a very helpful function that allows you to use your SIM card simultaneously on any phone that is linked in with the same Apple ID. If the “allow calls on the other devices” option is enabled, your call will directly ring on your primary phones; unlike Digit 4G, you won’t even need to look at your secondary phone. Even though an older iPhone, like the iPhone 6, costs roughly $30–40k (PTA approved), it is still far less expensive than the PTA tax, and you won’t even notice that it isn’t a PTA phone.
The inter-device connectivity is so strong that if your new iPhone needs internet, it will immediately use the internet from your secondary device; you also don’t need to switch on your hotspot on your secondary iPhone.
