Steps To Resolve Phone Overheating Issues

Why smartphones heat up?

Everyone who has a smartphone faces a mobile heating problem irrespective of its price. In general, all mobiles get overheated due to many reasons. Some common reasons for the phone overheating include malware or rogue applications in your mobiles. However, you must be able to distinguish between a hot and a warm mobile. A slightly warmer mobile phone is normal after you have played a heavy game or watched a movie for a long time.

Now, let us look at some other reasons and ways to prevent our phones from overheating issues.

Avoid keeping your phone in direct sunlight or extreme temperature:

Keeping your mobile phone under direct sunlight or extreme temperature will result in your phone to heat up.

Keep your brightness level low:

By keeping your brightness level low your battery will drain slowly and mobile will not heat up often.

Uninstall some apps that you don’t use often:

If your phone has a large number of applications installed, try to uninstall those apps that you do not use often.

Turn off the unused apps on your phone:

Some applications are running on your phone’s background which makes your phone engaged in managing multiple apps at a time and makes your phone work harder. These apps include Facebook and messenger that even continue to run after you have closed them. Uninstalling such apps will extend your battery life span and resolve your phone’s overheating issue. You can also choose the option “Force to stop” to completely avert the app from running in the background.

Remove your mobile case:

Sometimes the cases you use for your mobile phones are made up of insulating material that makes your phone overheated. By removing the mobile cover your phone will cool down quickly.

Never try to put your phone into a refrigerator or freezer to let it cool down:

If your phone heats up and you think putting it into a refrigerator or freezer will cool it down then you are wrong. A drastic shift in the temperature will cause water to trap inside your mobile phone causing more problems for you! It is better to leave your phone in a cool place.

Don’t keep your mobiles in a bag with other gadgets:

Keeping your mobile and other gadgets together in a bag will cause overheating of your phone.

Never use a mobile during charging:

By using your mobile while charging will cause overheating of your mobile and will also reduce the battery’s span of life. This is because when the phone is charging only, it will charge faster than the time when you playing games, watching movies, or using any other application while it charges. Thus the battery struggles to charge and therefore it gets overheated.

Avoid heavy gaming for long duration:

Playing a heavy game for a very long time will cause your phone to overheat. Just like a human body needs rest, electronic materials also need to rest for a while. Thus you should avoid playing a heavy game for long hours without giving it a break. At least, give a 15 minutes break for each hour after you use your phone consecutively.

Update your software and keep your applications updated:

By keeping your mobile’s software updated will solve heating issues. Keep your applications updated to fix bugs and prevent any virus from getting into your phone.

Minimize multitasking on your mobile:

The CPU of your phone can handle a certain number of applications. Using fewer apps at a time will reduce the overheating of your mobile. Also, avoid switching between many apps at a time.

Turn off your wifi or 3G and 4G when not in use:

Overusing wifi can also overheat your mobile phones. Switch off the wifi when you are not using it. Moreover, 3G and 4G also consume a lot of battery. Try to use them only when needed.

Switch to the airplane mode:

Turning on the airplane mode will allow you to use only basic functions and prevent the running of non-essential apps that cause the mobile to get overheated.

Use battery saver mode:

Using the battery saving mode may also prevent your phone from overheating. However, this may not always be applicable. Sometimes your phone battery will drain like crazy and your phone will start getting hot when you are using a heavy application.

Change your battery if you think its too old:

Sometimes when your phone is overheating you need to check its battery. If the mobile’s battery is too old you should change it. Moreover, sometimes when you purchase a new phone you get a non-genuine battery with it. This may also cause the overheating of your phone.

Note: This is only applicable to those mobiles with non-removable batteries.

Change the charging cable:

The faulty charging cable will also result in the malfunctioning of your phone charging port. Changing your charging cable may help to prevent mobile overheating issue

Don’t overcharge your phone:

You should never keep your phones on charge for too long. Never leave your phone to charge overnight. This will reduce the battery’s span of life and will create an overheating issue for your mobile.

Avoid filming for too long:

When you make a video for more than five minutes your phones start getting hot. To prevent this problem try to minimize the video duration and make videos in small intervals.

Remove junk files:

junk files occupy a lot of storage capacity and are also the reason why your phone turns hot. Clean up your mobile and remove junk files to prevent overheating problems.

Download some apps for keeping a check on mobile’s temperature:

You can download some applications like:

Temperature guard, Battery temperature, and phone cooler master to keep a check on your mobile’s temperature.

As mentioned earlier that a virus in your phone can also cause overheating problems hence there are also some applications designed to detect such viruses and clean them such as Safe security junk virus cleaner, Avast anti cleaner, and Speed booster.
