iOS 15 highlighted features

The latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 15 is now available. The new platform gives your iPhone a host of new features and enhancements. On September 20, 2021, the iPhone operating system received its most recent significant update, which included UI modifications, security updates, including several new features.

If you’re thinking about whether or not to upgrade and which new features are worth acquiring right away, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best new features in iOS 15 that you may not even be aware of. So let’s have a look at them.

Better expereince with FaceTime now

FaceTime, Apple’s video-calling tool, is getting a lot of updates. FaceTime is getting Spatial Audio, which makes each participant’s audio contributions appear to come from the correct location on the screen. Voice Isolation, a mode that uses machine learning to detect and remove ambient sounds, is also being developed to increase audio quality.

You will also gain some new interface options. You can use Portrait mode to blur the background and bring emphasis to the subject, just like in still photography. Furthermore, instead of foregrounding the speaker, it uses the new grid view to show all of the participants in a group discussion.

Improved Maps

In iOS15, Apple’s map data becomes considerably more precise. In commercial districts, you’ll discover more street-level data, elevation information in cities, and bespoke graphics for icons. When driving, Maps now displays highway interchanges in 3D, giving you a better understanding of which lane you should be in. If you take public transportation, Maps will tell you when to get off, and if you’re unsure which way to go once off the bus or outside the subway station, simply aim your phone at the buildings in front of you and Apple’s augmented reality will send you in the right direction.

On-Device and Offline Siri

The majority of Siri requests are now handled on the device rather than being forwarded to Apple’s servers, making Siri faster and more secure. Siri may also learn to understand commands over time as a device is used, becoming accustomed to the contacts you connect with, the phrases you enter, and the topics you choose, all of which are stored on the device.

Many Siri queries now operate offline, thanks to the fact that many Siri commands are handled on the iPhone. With no internet connection, you can set timers and alarms, activate apps, control music playing, and access Settings.

Live Text

If there is text in a photo, the iPhone and iPad will detect it when you look at it in Photos, preview a shot you’re going to take using the Camera app or view a photo on the web. When text is identified, a small box with three lines of text appears, and you can press it to view all of the text in the image highlighted.

The Photos app also includes a Visual Lookup tool that can identify plants, animals, landmarks, and other objects. Apple will inform you of what it believes you are viewing and show you related web images. You can choose, copy, lookup, translate, or share the highlighted text in an image by long pressing on it.

Health App updates

You can now share your health data with family members or friends using Apple’s Health App. They may easily keep an eye on metrics and receive alerts for any odd trends over time that way. There’s also a new Walking Steadiness indicator that examines your fall risk on a regular basis. You can also use the app to keep your Covid-19 test results and vaccination records. If the medical facility or vaccination provider does not support this option, you can download the record using a QR code or browser and save it in the Health app to retrieve it whenever you want.

SharePlay

You can use SharePlay to share movies, music, and your screen with whomever you’re FaceTiming with. So if you want to listen to a new album in sync with a friend, you can play music via Apple Music. Or even if you’d like to video chat with your long-distance partner while watching a movie you can do so. To enjoy the movie on the big screen, you can AirPlay it to your TV at the same time.

CSAM Detection

Originally, iOS 15 hold a few child safety features for the Messages app and iCloud Photos. If a child with an iPhone receive a sexually explicit photo via iMessage, the image will be blurred, a warning will show, and parents will be notified if the child opens it. There is also detection of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). In short, Apple will check hashes of photographs uploaded to iCloud Photos on your iPhone or iPad to CSAM hashes in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. If Apple identifies a certain number of CSAM photographs, these photos can be inspected by Apple moderators and subsequently reported to the NCMEC. However, this feature is still under consideration.

System-Wide Translation

Translate is now available throughout iOS, so any text you pick anywhere in the app can be translated to or from another language. Arabic, Chinese, English (UK and US), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish are among the languages supported.

Notification Summary

Depending on the number of apps you have enabled and your notification settings, you could receive hundreds of notifications per day, many of which are not urgent. Notification Summary allows you to schedule when your unimportant alerts are delivered, such as in the morning and evening, keeping you from being bothered throughout the day. Notification Summary skips important, time-sensitive notifications, but Instagram likes, game pop ups, news alerts, and other similar notifications can be kept for later.

Enhanced Multitasking available now

Multitasking has finally gotten a little improvement too. At the top of the screen, a new menu allows you rapidly shift between Split View and Slide Over without swiping.Swipe down on it, and the app will move to the edge, allowing you to see the home screen and select another app to open beside it. If you wish to switch between many app windows, place your instances on a new area called the shelf.

With all of these iOS 15 features, you will have a better experience with your iPhone now. The new iOS 15 is available for all iPhones starting from iPhone 6s and including iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (2016), iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and other models of iPhone 11 and 12.
